About

Hey! I'm Jon Brown and I'm based in Nottingham, East Midlands.

I do photography (including wedding photography), graphic design (such as branding, flyers), and video (from promos to interviews).

Hey! I'm Jon BROWN and here's a bit about me...

Ever since I was a kid I enjoyed being creative. I would design birthday cards for friends and make videos with my brother.

Over the years I have honed my skills and had the privilege of using them in a professional capacity. I got into wedding photography in 2007 and have been trying to grow in creativity ever since.

In 2019 I went on a new creative adventure and released my first book, MORE > Real. The aim of the book was to take an honest look at the awkward parts of the Christian faith, any why so many people reject it. It tackles subjects like doubt, disappointment, vulnerability, success and prayer. Here’s a little video explaining more.

So why "Beard and Bible"?

Good question. Well, firstly it was because I have one of the most common first names and surnames in the country. Trying to find the right Jon Brown on Google would have been like the search engine equivalent of Where's Wally.

So I tried to think of a name that caught the essence of my personality and what I would want my website to be. So after a lot of thinking (and some terrible name suggestions) I birthed the name "Beard and Bible". Not only did I like how it rolls off the tongue but also what it stands for. The "Beard" represents the creative and fun side of me and my work. The "Bible" represents my love for Jesus and my more philosophical/theological side. That's why on my blog you'll see both examples of work and reflections on life. My relationship with Jesus has changed everything, giving me more hope, joy and peace than I could ever imagine. To keep those things quiet and hidden from my blog would be a disservice to myself and a disservice to my customers. So I share my thoughts and my questions, my highs and my lows, and you're very welcome to take them or leave them.

I love people - from all backgrounds and walks of life - and always like making new friends. So if you want to get in touch, or go for a coffee, I'd love to hear from you.
